Marisco
Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Marisco. The most important clause is §3 — Marisco explains your portfolio; it never tells you what to do with it.

1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of the Marisco website (trymarisco.com) and application (app.trymarisco.com), together the "Service", operated by Manu Martínez Almeida, a sole trader established in Portugal("we", "us").
You can reach us atlegal@trymarisco.com or through thecontact form.
You accept these Terms when you tick the box confirming you have read them as you create your account, and each time you use the Service afterwards. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. We keep a record of when you accepted, and which version you accepted.
Where the Service is offered. Marisco is operated fromPortugal and is aimed at users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. We make no claim that it is appropriate or available elsewhere; if you use it from another country you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for complying with your own local law.
2. What Marisco does
Marisco is a portfolio learning tool. You bring your own holdings — by uploading broker statements or by connecting a brokerage account — and Marisco parses them into a ledger, derives your positions, prices them with third-party market data, and explains what you own in plain language, including through an AI assistant.
3. What Marisco is not
Marisco is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial institution.Everything the Service produces is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not personalised investment advice, it does not account for your individual financial situation, risk tolerance or objectives, and it must not be treated as a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security.
Past performance is not indicative of future results. Investing involves risk, including the loss of principal. Consult a qualified, appropriately licensed financial adviser before making investment decisions.
Specifically, the Service does not and will not:
- execute trades, place orders, or transmit instructions to your broker;
- take custody of, hold, or move your money or securities;
- manage your portfolio on a discretionary basis;
- tell you that a specific security is suitable for you given your circumstances.
You are solely responsible for your investment decisions and for the consequences of acting on anything you read in the Service.
No reliance. By using the Service you acknowledge that: you are not relying on it as a source of investment advice; no advisory, fiduciary or agency relationship arises between us; you have the knowledge and experience to evaluate its output yourself, or will take independent professional advice before acting; and every figure it shows may be wrong, stale or incomplete and is to be checked against your broker's own records before it is relied on. Nothing in the Service is an offer, solicitation or inducement to buy or sell any security.
4. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract.
- Access may be invitation-only while the Service is in early access. We may grant, delay or decline access at our discretion.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly through thecontact form if you suspect unauthorised use.
- You must not use the Service where doing so would breach the law that applies to you.
5. Your data and content
Your data stays yours. Statements you upload, portfolios you build, notes you write and reports you author remain your content. You grant us only the licence needed to host, process and display that content in order to provide the Service to you — nothing broader.
You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload.
We may compute aggregated, de-identified statistics across all users — for example how many portfolios hold a given instrument, or the typical fee load of a broker — and use them to operate, improve and describe the Service. Those statistics never identify you, never name your holdings as yours, and are not derived in a way that lets anyone work back to your portfolio. If we cannot produce a figure without singling you out, we don't produce it.
If you deliberately make a portfolio public, you are choosing to publish it: anyone with the link can read it, and you are responsible for what that reveals. You can make it private again at any time.
How we handle personal data is set out in thePrivacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Broker connections
You may connect a brokerage account through our brokerage-connectivity partner — currently SnapTrade — instead of uploading files. If you do:
- You authorise us to retrieve your account balances, positions and transaction history from that account, on your behalf, for as long as the connection is active.
- Access is read-only. We cannot trade, transfer funds, or change anything in your brokerage account.
- You enter your brokerage credentials with our connectivity partner, never with us; we do not receive or store them. For that step the partner acts on its own account under its own terms and privacy policy, which you accept when you connect — see §5 of thePrivacy Policy.
- Your relationship with your broker is governed by your agreement with that broker. We are not a party to it and are not responsible for their acts, outages or data.
- You can revoke the connection at any time in the Service. Revoking stops further syncing; data already imported stays in your portfolio until you delete it.
7. Third-party market data
Prices, FX rates, fundamentals and company information come from third-party providers. They are supplied "as is", may be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and must not be relied upon for trading. We do not guarantee their accuracy, timeliness or availability, and we are not liable for provider errors or outages.
8. AI-generated content
You are interacting with an AI system. Analysis, explanations, summaries and reports in the Service may be generated by a large language model. AI output can be confidently wrong: it can misattribute a figure, misread a statement, or invent a fact.
Check anything that matters against your broker's own records before acting on it. AI output is not reviewed by a human before you see it, and it is not investment advice.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload data you have no right to, or another person's statements without their authority;
- attempt to access accounts, portfolios or data that are not yours, or probe or circumvent the Service's access controls;
- scrape, resell or redistribute market data obtained through the Service, or use it to build a competing data product;
- overload the Service — automated bulk requests, denial-of-service, or use that degrades it for others;
- present Marisco's output to third parties as licensed financial advice, or use it to provide regulated advice without your own authorisation;
- upload malware, or use the Service for anything unlawful.
10. Availability, early access and changes
The Service is under active development and offered on an early-access basis. Features may change, break or be removed. We do not promise any uptime level, and we may suspend the Service for maintenance.
We may change these Terms. Material changes are announced by email to account holders before they take effect; continuing to use the Service after that constitutes acceptance. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
11. Fees
The Service is currently provided free of charge. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you the price and terms before charging you anything, and you will never be charged without agreeing first.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided"as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation, valuation or analysis it produces is accurate or complete.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for anyinvestment losses, lost profits, lost opportunities, loss of data, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, including any decision you make on the basis of its output.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €100.
Nothing here excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, forwilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected, and any limitation above applies only so far as it is fair and lawful against you.
14. Your indemnity and time limit for claims
You will indemnify us against any claim, demand, loss, liability or reasonable cost (including legal fees) brought by a third party and arising out of: your breach of these Terms, in particular §9; data you uploaded that you had no right to upload; a portfolio you chose to make public; or your use of the Service in a way these Terms prohibit. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and will not settle it without asking you first.
Any claim you bring in connection with the Service must be brought withinone year of the date you first knew, or reasonably should have known, of the facts giving rise to it.
Both paragraphs above apply only so far as the law allows. If you are a consumer, neither shortens a limitation period fixed by mandatory law nor displaces a right you cannot contract out of.
15. Events outside our control
We are not liable for failing to provide the Service where the cause is outside our reasonable control — including outages at our hosting, database, market-data, AI or brokerage-connectivity providers, at your broker, or in the public network. Where that happens we will restore the Service as soon as we reasonably can.
16. Termination
You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time through the contact form.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms — in particular §9 — or if we are required to by law. Where circumstances allow, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.
Sections 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18 and 19 survive termination.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If you are not a consumer, the courts of Portugal have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
If you are a consumer, nothing here deprives you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence. You may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country or in Portugal, and we may bring proceedings against you only in the courts of the country where you live.
We would much rather resolve a complaint directly — write tolegal@trymarisco.com and we will answer. Consumers resident in Portugal may also refer a dispute to a Portuguese consumer arbitration centre (centro de arbitragem de conflitos de consumo). We are not signed up to any single centre in advance, and we are not obliged to use alternative dispute resolution, but we will engage with a request in good faith.
18. General
- If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the provision is read as narrowly as needed to make it valid.
- Our not enforcing a right on one occasion is not a waiver of that right.
- You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
19. Contact
Questions about these Terms, and any formal notice under them:legal@trymarisco.com, or thecontact page for anything less formal. Privacy requests have their own route — see thePrivacy Policy.
